On 24th May 2026, Bilaspur Railway Station in Chhattisgarh introduced a roof mounted water mist spraying system on its platforms to provide relief to passengers during the severe heatwave affecting central India.
The station showed high pressure sprinklers releasing a fine mist across crowded platforms to lower temperatures and reduce heat stress for travellers waiting for trains.
The initiative was introduced as Bilaspur recorded temperatures around 45°C, among the highest in the state, with railway authorities using the cooling system mainly during peak daytime hours when passenger crowds were high. #Bilaspur
