He used to do his work wellWhile working in a businessman's house, his son Rohitashava was bitten by a snake and died. When his wife Tara came to the cremation ground for the last rites of their son, he asked her for tax. His wife had nothing to give. She started pleading him for tax exemption as her father, but Hrishavand lacked money. For this reason he could not help him. A king had become so poor at this time that he could not help his wife and son. He wanted to fulfill his duty at any cost. His wife did not have anything to give, then she tore the saree worn on her body in half, covered her son's body with one part and gave the other part to Harishchandra as tax. After that he allowed his wife to perform the last rites of their son. He performed his duty strictly. They did not lie. If he wanted, he could have waived the tax by lying but he did not lie while performing his duty. Even today King Harishchandra is known for his truthfulness. In the state of slavery, they had to do all the household work of Dom. They could not do no to any work asked by him. Therefore, he also did the work of filling water at Dom's house. According to a king, selling oneself as a slave is a difficult task. But he accepted to sell himself and his family to fulfill his vow. But did not resort to lies. At last God was pleased with him and brought his son back to life and also returned his kingdom. People who make sacrifices like this are difficult to find. He is remembered even today
