The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has stayed the construction of a proposed private hotel and resort project near the Similipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha. The project was planned over 100 acres of ecologically sensitive forest and hilly land in Laxmiposhi area of Mayurbhanj district. The tribunal issued this interim order noting that the land forms a crucial wildlife corridor. Following submissions from the state government and forest department, the NGT directed parties including IDCO and IPICOL to cease all construction activities on the site until further notice.
