In Gahmari village of Jajpur district, Odisha, residents organized a unique 'Andira Bibaha' (male marriage) to appease the Rain God amid a dry spell. Two men, Jatin Khatua and Kalandi Nayak, acted as the groom and bride in a traditional ceremony held at the Maa Siddheswari temple. The ritual, performed during Basumati Snana, follows a centuries-old belief that such symbolic weddings ward off drought and bring prosperity to farmers. Despite modern changes, the village continues this tradition with full festivities including processions and music.
