Historians and the royal family of Kapurthala are protesting the demolition of the 90-year-old historic Randhir Jagatjit Civil Hospital building for a new medical college. Part of the ₹275 crore Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji State Institute of Medical Sciences project, nearly 50 rooms built during the British era by Maharaja Jagatjit Singh (1937-1941) have been razed.
