Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced an innovative ethanol-based stove technology that aims to be much cheaper than commercial LPG cylinders. The stove uses a mixture of water and 7 percent ethanol to produce a cooking flame. This indigenous technology aims to reduce India's 87 percent dependence on imported crude oil and provide a pollution-free, affordable alternative for households. Gadkari highlighted that ethanol blending in petrol has already reached 20 percent as of 2025, and this new stove could become a strong competitor to traditional gas cylinders if commercially successful.
