Indian Railways is set to launch the country's first hydrogen-powered train on the Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana. Approved by the Railway Board, this eco-friendly train uses a 1200 kW hydrogen fuel cell and produces only water vapor instead of smoke. It features 10 coaches with a top speed of 75 km/h. The government has allocated ₹2,800 crore for 35 such trains, initially targeting hilly and heritage routes.
