Punjab is facing a severe heatwave with temperatures crossing 45°C, leading to a record electricity demand of over 15,400 MW. Bathinda recorded the highest temperature at 46.3°C. To meet the rising demand, 14 out of 15 thermal power units in the state are operational. Relief is expected between June 11 and 13 as the weather department predicts rain and gusty winds across North India.
