A clash broke out between the police and the family of a wanted individual in Bangiwal village, Jalandhar, resulting in the death of a youth named Lovepreet alias Lavi due to a gunshot wound. Police arrived to arrest him in an attempted murder case when the confrontation occurred. While police claim they fired in self-defense during a scuffle with the crowd, the family alleges that an officer in civilian clothes shot him from behind. Lovepreet died during treatment at a hospital.
