A Mohali sessions court has sentenced former Vigilance SP Amandeep Kaur and businessman Rajinder Singh Gopi to three years of rigorous imprisonment in the 2011 suicide case of Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Ranjit Singh. The court found them guilty under sections 306 and 120-B of the IPC for framing the officer in a false bribery case, which led to his mental trauma and eventual suicide. While one co-accused was acquitted, two others died during the trial.
