The Odisha Electricity Consumers Federation has strongly criticized the state government over frequent unannounced power cuts during the peak summer. Despite government assurances of no power cuts, citizens are suffering due to frequent outages. The Federation dismissed the Energy Minister's explanation that increased AC usage is causing load issues as irrational. Led by Panchanan Kanungo, the federation demanded 300 units of free electricity, a CAG audit, and simplification of solar unit installations.
