Two 12-year-old boys, Akash Mahalik and Kartik Behera, drowned while bathing in the Sone River in the Nilagiri block of Balasore district. The incident occurred around noon on Sunday when three minors went to the river. While Akash started drowning due to carelessness, Kartik tried to save him, but both lost their lives. Another boy, Deepak, survived and alerted the villagers.
