Today Revelation Meditation : 10/06/2026 The book of Revelation Explanation Post -227 XX 2) (2) "Saying: 'We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.'" (Revelation 11:17) Dear saints of the Lord, in the book of Revelation, we can see seven instances where God Almighty is praised and thanked, with all honor, glory, adoration, and power being ascribed to Him (Revelation 5:12; 7:12; 11:17; 12:10; 14:2; 15:2; 19:1). Among these, the most important and significant one is found in Revelation 11:17. This is because it is the only place where the phrase "We give thee thanks" is recorded. The twenty-four elders thank God because the Almighty God has taken His great power and reigns over the earth. We can see that the sacrifice of thanksgiving offered by them is not merely formal, but is offered with a genuine, inner awareness of the reason for their gratitude. Our glorious God, the Lord Jesus Christ, is not only He who is, who was, and who is to come, but He is also declared again as the Almighty (Pantokrator). This is an act of praising God. We thank God for what He has done for us, and we praise Him for what He is about to do. God comes down to accept that praise. "And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them. And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed." (Acts 16:25,26). These words of the Lord teach us that when Paul and Silas sang praises to God, the Lord God Almighty, who accepted their praise, came down among them and granted them deliverance. We understand that true worship consists of a combination of thanksgiving, praise, and the Word of God, and that all three should be present in our times of worship.
