📖 Today’s Gospel — Wednesday, May 6, 2026 Wednesday of the 5th Week of Easter | John 15:1–8 Jesus said to his disciples: “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit.” Pruning is not punishment. It is care. The Father removes what weakens us so that what remains can truly live. “You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. Remain in me, as I remain in you.” The call is simple, but not easy: remain. “Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.” A branch separated from the vine cannot survive. “I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.” Not less. Nothing. Fruitfulness is not self-made. It is received through union. “Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither…” A warning, but also a truth: life is found only in Him. “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.” Prayer flows naturally from closeness. “By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.” ✨ Reflection The goal is not to do more, but to stay connected. When we remain in Christ, His life begins to flow through us. Love becomes natural. Service becomes sincere. Fruit begins to grow quietly. If we feel empty or distant, the question is not effort— it is connection. Am I still attached to the vine? 💡 Context (Important) This passage is part of the Farewell Discourse at the Last Supper. Jesus reveals Himself as the true vine, redefining Israel’s identity. The disciples are branches whose life depends entirely on Him. Pruning represents purification— through His word, through trials, and through the Father’s loving care. 💡 Truths to Remember • Jesus is the source of all spiritual life • Pruning is an act of love, not rejection • Fruitfulness comes from remaining, not striving • Prayer flows from union with Christ 🙏 Prayer Lord Jesus, true vine, help me remain in You today. Cut away what does not lead to life. Keep me close to Your word and Your presence. Let Your love flow through me and bear fruit in ways I cannot produce on my own. Amen. #DailyGospel #John15 #TheVineAndTheBranches #RemainInMe #CatholicFaith #RiseWithTheWord
