Do Not Be Indifferent
Love isn’t just a feeling—it is a decision.
A decision to care when it would be easier to look away.
Indifference is not neutral.
It quietly distances us from others
and slowly hardens the heart.
God does not remain distant from human suffering.
He enters into it.
He feels what our neighbor feels.
So when we ignore those in need,
we are not just turning away from people—
we are turning away from Him.
Love often comes disguised as inconvenience.
It asks for our time,
our attention,
our comfort,
and sometimes even our pride.
But this is where true worship is found—
not only in prayer,
but in presence.
The altar of love
is often hidden in ordinary moments:
a conversation,
a helping hand,
a choice to stay when it would be easier to leave.
Today, resist the temptation to pass by.
Look again.
Notice who is struggling.
A tired colleague.
A quiet friend.
A family member carrying something unseen.
Let your heart remain soft enough to be moved,
and your hands ready to respond.
📖 Scripture
“If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:17-18
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
🙏 Prayer
Father, soften my heart.
Do not let me walk past the needs of others.
Give me the courage to love in action,
even when it is uncomfortable. Amen.

Saint François de Laval
Shepherd Who Refused to Look Away
✨ His Story
François de Laval was born in 1623 into a noble family in France, yet he chose a path far from comfort and privilege. Drawn by a deep love for Christ and His people, he became a missionary and was appointed the first bishop of New France (present-day Canada) in 1658.
His diocese was vast and challenging, stretching across rugged lands and harsh climates. But Laval did not remain distant from his people. He travelled by canoe and on snowshoes, visiting remote communities, caring for the sick, baptizing children, and guiding both settlers and indigenous peoples with a shepherd’s heart.
He stood firmly against injustice, especially when indigenous communities were exploited. Refusing to remain silent, he defended their dignity and worked tirelessly to build a Church rooted in truth and compassion. He established parishes, founded schools, and created the seminary that would later become Université Laval.
✨ A Life Transformed
Laval lived what he preached. His charity was not theoretical—it was practical and sacrificial. He often gave his own bed to the poor and chose simplicity over comfort. Even after resigning as bishop, he continued to serve quietly as a priest, never stepping away from love.
✨ Why He Became a Saint
Saint François de Laval was canonized in 2014 because of his heroic pastoral charity. He did not look away from suffering. He chose to see, to respond, and to give himself fully for the good of others. His life reflects the heart of Christ, the Good Shepherd.
✨ What He Teaches Us
Laval teaches that indifference is the enemy of love. True faith moves us toward people, especially those who are overlooked or forgotten. A shepherd’s heart does not avoid difficulty—it walks directly into it with compassion and courage.
📖 Scripture
“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.” — John 10:11
🙏 Prayer
Saint François de Laval, faithful shepherd and servant of the vulnerable, pray for us. Teach us to see with compassion, to act with courage, and to love without hesitation. Amen.
💭 Intercession
Saint François de Laval, intercede for all missionaries, leaders, and those who serve in hidden or difficult places, that they may remain faithful and generous.
✝️ Truth for Today
Love does not turn away—it moves toward those in need.
✨ Truths to Remember
• Pastoral charity means seeing and serving others
• True leadership is rooted in sacrifice
• Love requires action, not comfort
• A shepherd’s heart seeks the overlooked

📖 Today’s Gospel — Wednesday, May 6, 2026
Wednesday of the 5th Week of Easter | John 15:1–8
Jesus said to his disciples:
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower.
He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit,
and every one that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit.”
Pruning is not punishment.
It is care.
The Father removes what weakens us
so that what remains can truly live.
“You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you.
Remain in me, as I remain in you.”
The call is simple,
but not easy: remain.
“Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own
unless it remains on the vine,
so neither can you unless you remain in me.”
A branch separated from the vine
cannot survive.
“I am the vine, you are the branches.
Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit,
because without me you can do nothing.”
Not less.
Nothing.
Fruitfulness is not self-made.
It is received through union.
“Anyone who does not remain in me
will be thrown out like a branch and wither…”
A warning,
but also a truth:
life is found only in Him.
“If you remain in me and my words remain in you,
ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.”
Prayer flows naturally
from closeness.
“By this is my Father glorified,
that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.”
✨ Reflection
The goal is not to do more,
but to stay connected.
When we remain in Christ,
His life begins to flow through us.
Love becomes natural.
Service becomes sincere.
Fruit begins to grow quietly.
If we feel empty or distant,
the question is not effort—
it is connection.
Am I still attached to the vine?
💡 Context (Important)
This passage is part of the Farewell Discourse
at the Last Supper.
Jesus reveals Himself as the true vine,
redefining Israel’s identity.
The disciples are branches
whose life depends entirely on Him.
Pruning represents purification—
through His word, through trials,
and through the Father’s loving care.
💡 Truths to Remember
• Jesus is the source of all spiritual life
• Pruning is an act of love, not rejection
• Fruitfulness comes from remaining, not striving
• Prayer flows from union with Christ
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus, true vine,
help me remain in You today.
Cut away what does not lead to life.
Keep me close to Your word and Your presence.
Let Your love flow through me
and bear fruit in ways I cannot produce on my own. Amen.

📖 Today’s Gospel — Tuesday, May 5, 2026
Tuesday of the 5th Week of Easter | John 14:27–31a
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”
The peace Jesus gives is not fragile
and not dependent on circumstances.
It is the steady presence of God within—
a peace rooted in trust, not in control.
The world offers relief that fades.
Christ offers peace that remains.
“You heard me tell you,
‘I am going away and I will come back to you.’
If you loved me,
you would rejoice that I am going to the Father…”
His departure is not loss.
It is the path to something greater—
a deeper union through the Spirit
who will come.
“And now I have told you this before it happens,
so that when it happens you may believe.”
Jesus prepares their hearts
so that faith will remain
even when they do not understand.
“I will no longer speak much with you,
for the ruler of the world is coming.
He has no power over me…”
Darkness approaches,
but it holds no authority over Him.
“…but the world must know that I love the Father
and that I do just as the Father has commanded me.”
His obedience reveals His love.
Even in the face of the Cross,
He remains faithful.
✨ Reflection
“My peace I give to you.”
Jesus speaks these words
on the night before His suffering.
This is not theoretical peace—
it is tested peace.
It is the peace that remains
even when life is uncertain,
even when fear rises.
Today, what troubles your heart?
What unsettles your spirit?
Hear Him again:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.”
💡 Context (Important)
This passage continues the Farewell Discourse
at the Last Supper.
Jesus prepares His disciples
for His Passion, death, and return to the Father.
The peace He gives contrasts
with the temporary peace of the world.
It flows from His victory over sin and death.
“The ruler of this world” refers to the power of evil,
which has no claim over Christ.
His perfect obedience to the Father
reveals the fullness of divine love.
💡 Truths to Remember
• Christ’s peace is a gift, not something we create
• His departure leads to the coming of the Holy Spirit
• Evil has no power over Jesus
• Obedience to the Father reveals true love
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus, give me Your peace—
the peace that does not depend on circumstances
but on Your presence.
Calm my troubled heart.
Remove my fears.
Teach me to trust in You fully
and to live in obedience to the Father. Amen.

Saint Angelus of Jerusalem
Peacemaker and Martyr
✨ His Story
Saint Angelus was born in Jerusalem in 1185 into a Jewish family that later embraced Christianity. Drawn to a life of prayer and truth, he entered the Carmelite Order and was ordained a priest. Gifted with deep knowledge of Scripture and a heart for unity, he became a preacher who sought to bring people together rather than divide them.
Around 1220, he was sent to Sicily, where tensions and heresies had fractured communities. Angelus approached his mission through dialogue, patience, and truth spoken with love. His words reached many—but also stirred opposition. A man hardened against conversion attacked him. Angelus suffered mortal wounds and died in 1225, forgiving his attacker to the end.
✨ A Life Transformed
Even in death, his mission continued. The man who struck him was later moved to repentance and eventually joined the Carmelite Order. Angelus’ sacrifice became a seed of reconciliation, proving that love endures beyond violence.
✨ Why He Became a Saint
Saint Angelus is honored as a martyr because he gave his life while proclaiming truth and working for unity. His witness reveals that true peace is not passive—it is costly, courageous, and rooted in Christ.
✨ What He Teaches Us
Angelus teaches that real dialogue requires strength. It means listening deeply, speaking truthfully, and remaining rooted in love even when it is rejected. Peace is not achieved through force, but through hearts willing to forgive and unite.
📖 Scripture
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9
🙏 Prayer
Saint Angelus, faithful servant and courageous martyr, pray for us. Help us to be instruments of peace in a divided world. Teach us to speak truth with love and to forgive as you forgave. Amen.

The Media Links Us—Dialogue Unites Us
Technology can connect us instantly,
but connection is not the same as communion.
We can see faces, share updates, and exchange messages—
yet still remain distant in heart.
True unity does not come from proximity or communication tools.
It comes from love expressed through real dialogue.
Dialogue is more than speaking.
It is the decision to enter into another person’s world—
to listen without rushing,
to understand without judging,
and to respond with sincerity.
It requires presence.
It requires humility.
It requires a willingness to be known
as much as to know another.
In a world filled with noise,
authentic conversation becomes a rare act of love.
When we truly listen,
we create space for healing.
When we speak with care,
we build bridges that technology alone cannot form.
Today, move beyond surface-level interaction.
Choose depth over speed.
Choose presence over distraction.
One honest conversation
can restore connection,
strengthen relationships,
and reflect the love of Christ.
📖 Scripture
“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you know how you should respond to each one.” — Colossians 4:6
“The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.” — Proverbs 20:5
🙏 Prayer
Lord, teach me to listen with patience and to speak with love.
Help me to value people more than convenience
and relationships more than efficiency.
Let my words bring understanding and unity. Amen.
✨ Live the Word
Have one intentional conversation today—
listen fully, speak honestly, and give your complete attention.

I never planned to write a book on Genesis.
I just got tired of hearing the same two things:
“Don’t ask questions — just believe.”
And: “Genesis is a myth. It’s not meant to be taken seriously.”
Neither of those felt true. And I don't think they feel true to you either.
So I did something a little crazy. I sat down and wrote the book I wanted to read myself.
The Living Word: In the Beginning is not a dry commentary. It’s an immersive, scene-by-scene retelling of the whole story of Genesis — but it’s also for the person who has real questions and wants real answers.
Here’s why I think you’ll love it:
📖 It meets you where you are.
There are two paths through the book. The Story Path is pure narrative and key verses — perfect for devotional reading, even if you’ve never opened a Bible before. The Full Path goes deeper: Catechism, Church Fathers, apologetics, and all the hard questions.
🕊️ The hard stuff isn’t skipped.
Dinosaurs and the Flood. The age of the earth. Lucifer’s fall. Free will. The Trinity hiding in Genesis 1. Melchizedek — that mysterious priest who brings out bread and wine 2,000 years before the Last Supper. If you’ve ever wondered about these things, the book faces them head-on.
⚖️ You’re not told what to think.
Where faithful Catholics interpret the text differently, I lay out the perspectives honestly. No forcing one view. No telling you to stop thinking. The line between “the Church teaches” and “some theologians understand” is always clear.
🌿 The women aren’t footnotes.
A whole chapter on the Mothers of Israel — Eve, Sarah, Hagar, Rebekah, Rachel, Leah, Tamar. Because the promise was carried in bodies that ached, waited, and laughed at impossible news. Hagar, an Egyptian slave, is the only person in Scripture who gives God a name: El Roi — the God who sees me. That still wrecks me.
💬 Every chapter ends with prayer.
Not as an afterthought — as the room you step into after the theology has done its work. This book is meant to be a conversation, not a lecture.
And I’ll be honest with you: I used AI tools to help me write this. Every word of theology is mine, every insight is grounded in two thousand years of Catholic teaching — but the tools let me get this out of my head and into your hands faster than I ever could alone. God gives gifts. Some of them are silicon. I’m not hiding that.
If you’ve ever felt lost in Genesis — or been told your questions were a problem — this was written for you.

📖 Today’s Gospel — Monday, May 4, 2026
Monday of the 5th Week of Easter | John 14:21–26
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Whoever has my commandments and observes them
is the one who loves me.
And whoever loves me will be loved by my Father,
and I will love him and reveal myself to him.”
Love is not a passing emotion.
It is lived, proven, and expressed
in keeping His word.
And the fruit of that love is extraordinary:
Christ reveals Himself
to the one who lives in obedience.
Judas (not Iscariot) asks:
“Master, what happened that you will reveal yourself to us,
and not to the world?”
Jesus answers not with explanation,
but with a promise:
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him
and make our dwelling with him.”
God does not remain distant.
He chooses to dwell within
the heart that loves Him.
Then comes the promise of the Advocate:
“The Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name,
will teach you everything
and remind you of all that I told you.”
We are not left alone.
The Spirit becomes the teacher within,
guiding, reminding, and forming us
in the truth of Christ.
✨ Reflection
To love Jesus is to trust Him enough to follow His word.
And in that trust, something remarkable happens—
God makes His home within us.
This is not symbolic.
It is real communion.
The Holy Spirit sustains this relationship,
quietly guiding us,
bringing Jesus’ words to life in our daily choices.
💡 Context (Important)
This passage is part of the Farewell Discourse at the Last Supper.
Jesus prepares His disciples for His departure
by promising the coming of the Holy Spirit.
Judas’ question reveals confusion about how Jesus will manifest Himself.
The answer: not through public display,
but through intimate presence
in those who love and obey Him.
The Holy Spirit ensures that Christ’s teaching
remains alive in the Church across every age.
💡 Truths to Remember
• Love for Jesus is shown through obedience
• God dwells in the heart that loves Him
• The Holy Spirit teaches and reminds us of truth
• We are never left alone in following Christ
🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus, teach me to love You through my actions.
Help me to keep Your word with sincerity and trust.

Saint Florian
Courage to Serve, Strength to Protect
✨ His Story
Saint Florian was a Roman officer in the late third century, stationed in Noricum (modern-day Austria). Known for his leadership and discipline, he also carried a hidden identity—he was a Christian. Beyond his military role, Florian organized fire brigades, dedicating himself to protecting lives and communities from danger.
When the persecution under Emperor Diocletian intensified, Florian was ordered to sacrifice to the Roman gods. He refused. Instead, he openly professed his faith in Christ. For this, he was arrested, tortured, and ultimately sentenced to death. Around the year 304, he was thrown into the river Enns with a millstone tied around his neck, sealing his witness in martyrdom.
✨ A Life Transformed
Florian did not separate faith from duty. His service as a soldier became a mission of protection rooted in love. He defended not only lives from physical danger but also remained steadfast in defending his faith. In his final moments, his courage did not fade—it reached its fullness.
✨ Why He Became a Saint
Saint Florian is honored as a martyr because he chose fidelity to Christ over safety, reputation, and life itself. His unwavering witness under persecution and his life of service to others reveal heroic virtue. The Church recognizes in him a life fully given to God.
✨ What He Teaches Us
Florian teaches that courage and service are inseparable. True strength is not found in power, but in the willingness to protect and serve others, even at personal cost. Our daily work—especially when it safeguards and uplifts others—can become a path to holiness.
📖 Scripture
“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” — John 15:13
🙏 Prayer
Saint Florian, courageous martyr and faithful servant, pray for us. Help us to stand firm in our faith and to serve others with generosity and courage. Protect those who risk their lives each day for the safety of others. Amen.

Work for the Common Good
Service is rarely dramatic. More often, it is quiet, consistent, and hidden within ordinary moments. Yet it is precisely here that the Kingdom of God takes root—through small acts done with love.
We are not called to live only for ourselves. The Christian life always moves outward, toward others. Every act of service—no matter how unnoticed—is a participation in God’s work of renewal. What seems small in human eyes carries eternal weight when offered in love.
When we work for the good of others, we are not simply helping people—we are encountering Christ. He has chosen to be present in those around us, especially in the overlooked, the forgotten, and the ordinary. To serve them is to serve Him.
This changes how we see our daily responsibilities. Work is no longer just duty; it becomes offering. Service is no longer occasional; it becomes a way of life. Each act of care, patience, or generosity becomes a seed planted in the soil of the world—one that God alone brings to growth.
Today, choose to act with intention. Do not wait for a grand opportunity. Look for the small, hidden moment where love is needed—and respond. In doing so, you participate in building a community shaped by Christ.
📖 Scripture
“Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” — Matthew 25:40
“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
🙏 Prayer
Father, open my eyes to recognize Your presence in those around me. Teach me to serve with humility and love. Let my daily work become an offering that builds up others and honors You. Amen.
