🕊️ Saint of the Day — Tuesday, May 5, 2026 Saint Angelus of Jerusalem Peacemaker and Martyr ✨ His Story Saint Angelus was born in Jerusalem in 1185 into a Jewish family that later embraced Christianity. Drawn to a life of prayer and truth, he entered the Carmelite Order and was ordained a priest. Gifted with deep knowledge of Scripture and a heart for unity, he became a preacher who sought to bring people together rather than divide them. Around 1220, he was sent to Sicily, where tensions and heresies had fractured communities. Angelus approached his mission through dialogue, patience, and truth spoken with love. His words reached many—but also stirred opposition. A man hardened against conversion attacked him. Angelus suffered mortal wounds and died in 1225, forgiving his attacker to the end. ✨ A Life Transformed Even in death, his mission continued. The man who struck him was later moved to repentance and eventually joined the Carmelite Order.
