The Central Government has introduced new regulations for the sale of the drug 'Pregabalin' due to its increasing misuse as an intoxicant among youth. Previously under Schedule H, it has now been moved to Schedule H1 under the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. This means the medicine can only be sold upon presenting a valid prescription from a registered medical practitioner. The new rules will be fully implemented across the country within the next six months, and all stakeholders including manufacturers and retailers must strictly comply.
