The Tungabhadra dam's water capacity has decreased from 133 TMC to nearly 100 TMC due to the accumulation of 32 TMC of silt over 73 years. To address this, a proposal for a parallel reservoir at Navali in Koppal district with a 30 TMC capacity is being considered. Estimated at Rs 16,000 crore, the project requires consensus from Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
