In a major political blow to Mamata Banerjee, 20 TMC MPs have broken away to form a new group and declared support for the NDA. This follows a previous rebellion where 58 MLAs left the party. Rebel MP Dr. Sharmila Sarkar announced that Kakoli Ghosh and Satabdi Ghosh will hold key positions in the new group. Since more than two-thirds of members have defected, the anti-defection law may not apply.
