For Sheetal Devi, it meant not just rewriting the rules of archery—but of life itself.
Born without arms, she refused to let her circumstances define her. With sheer determination, she mastered the bow using her toes, guided the arrow with her mouth, and drew strength from her legs, chest, and shoulders—shooting with the precision of a true champion.
Last year, she gave India a proud moment by winning a Paralympic bronze in the mixed team event. But for Sheetal, that was just the beginning.
"Whenever I see the medals I've won, I feel inspired to win more. Even when I shoot a nine, I only think about how to turn it into a ten," she told ESPN.
And on Saturday, she did just that—defeating World No. 1 Öznur Cure Girdi (Turkiye) 146-143, becoming the world’s first armless woman to win gold at the World Para Archery Championship.
"I had a dream to become a world champion. That dream pushed me to work hard. Today, I’ve achieved it," she said with pride.
Today, she stands tall—not just as a medalist, but as a World Champion.
