On 20 May 2026, a man climbed a mobile tower around 9:30 am carrying the Indian tricolour, a portrait of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar and a bottle of petrol, near Bhiwandi in Thane district, Maharashtra, demanding direct intervention from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in his long-pending land and property dispute case. According to Kongaon Police senior inspector Netaram Mhaske, the man claimed his grievances had remained unresolved for several years and insisted that Shinde personally come to negotiate with him. Police and revenue officials reached the spot and used public announcements to persuade him to come down safely, while a large crowd gathered around the area. Authorities also stated that he had attempted a similar protest earlier. #maharashtra
