A 16-year-old Hindu boy, Sanket, was allegedly beaten to death on February 23 in the Urgadur area of Shivamogga, Karnataka, after he tried to intervene in a fight and protect his friend Girish. The incident occurred around 8 pm when a group of minor boys confronted Girish near a school ground. Sanket stepped in to stop the assault but was severely attacked, suffering fatal injuries to his chest and other parts of his body. He was rushed to hospital but declared dead on arrival. Police have registered a case at Tunga Nagar Police Station and taken two minors into custody. Authorities deployed additional security as tensions briefly rose in the area.
