“Show us a capable Brahmin candidate” — this question itself shows our problem. No other community keeps questioning its own candidates like this. Only we, the Brahmins, do it. In elections, people largely vote for the leader and the party, not the individual candidate. The candidate’s impact is often marginal. A classic example: Jayalalithaa asked S Ve Shekher to contest from Mylapore. He himself said he was not capable. Amma refused to accept that and told him, “I will take care, don’t worry, just proceed.” He contested — and he won. That’s how elections work. Today, the real issue is not “capability.” It is lack of consolidation of last-mile votes (500–2500 votes). This is exactly where AIADMK failed in 2021, losing around 20+ seats by thin margins. Even now, no serious effort is being made to attract Brahmin / GC voters. There is growing dissatisfaction among Brahmin & GC communities due to: - No meaningful representation in MLA/MP/Councillor seats - EWS not properly implemented - Concerns over laws like UGC draft issues, SC/ST Act misuse perception - Temple administration issues At the same time, DMK has been strategically engaging Brahmin voices and signaling inclusiveness. If NDA & AIADMK don’t act on the ground, they risk losing many seats again by razor-thin margins. Also, let’s be clear — there is no capability gap: Brahmins already hold major leadership roles nationally — Nirmala Sitharaman, S. Jaishankar, Nitin Gadkari, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and many more. Several CMs and senior leaders across India are from the community. So the issue is not talent — it is political mindset and projection. Simple point: if someone like Kishore K Swamy is fielded in T. Nagar or Mylapore, victory is highly likely. --- Why every vote matters: “Victory and defeat are decided by very small vote margins. This is a reminder that everyone must vote.” - 2011 TN elections: 8 seats won by <1000 votes - 2016: 15 seats <1000 votes (some as low as 49 & 87 votes) - 25% seats won by <3% margin - 39% (89 seats) won by <5% margin - AIADMK alone won 50 seats with <5% margin 2021 examples (very close victories): - T. Nagar – 137 votes - Modakkurichi – 281 votes - Tenkasi – 370 votes - Mettur – 656 votes - Katpadi – 746 votes - Krishnagiri – 794 votes - …and many more under 2000 votes This proves one thing: Elections are not about “perfect candidates.” They are about mobilizing every single vote. Stop doubting ourselves. Start consolidating.
