The condition was: "My destruction shall come only at the hands of a son born to the union of both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu." Empowered by this unnatural boon, she grew arrogant, believing herself to be invincible. To protect the world, Lord Vishnu assumed the form of Mohini; subsequently, Ayyappa was born as the divine son of Shiva and Mohini.
