Meera Kumari
During Shravan Maas, offering Bilva leaves (Bel Patra) to Lord Shiva holds immense significance. According to mythology, after consuming poison during Samudra Manthan, these cooling leaves were offered to Shiva to soothe his body. The three leaves symbolize Shiva's three eyes, his Trishul, and the Trinity (Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh). It is also believed that the Bilva tree emerged from Goddess Parvati. Offering fresh, unbroken leaves with the chant 'Om Namah Shivaya' during Shravan is said to fulfill devotees' wishes and remove negativity.
