Hamas has decided to dismantle its nearly two-decade-long rule in Gaza and transfer civilian administrative responsibilities to a technocratic committee called the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). This move, supported by the U.S., aims to end Israel's justification for ongoing attacks. While the head of Gaza's government emergency committee, Mohammad Al-Farra, has resigned to facilitate the transition, issues like Hamas's disarmament remain unresolved. Israel has expressed reservations about the transition and clarified it will not allow Hamas or the Palestinian Authority to govern Gaza at this stage.
