The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new rule for its 80 million subscribers. Now, PF contributions exceeding ₹1,800 per month will not be deducted without the employee's consent. While a 12% contribution on a mandatory salary ceiling of ₹15,000 (amounting to ₹1,800) remains compulsory, employees earning higher salaries can opt-out of additional deductions. This change will allow employees to increase their in-hand monthly salary if they choose not to make voluntary extra contributions.
