Tamil/English மலையே மரகதமாய் திருஈங்கோய்மலை மரகதாசலேஸ்வரர் அபூர்வ தரிசனம்! சிவாய நம! காவிரி ஆற்றின் வடகரையில், கரூருக்கு அருகிலுள்ள ஒரு சிறிய குன்றின் மீது அற்புதம் நிகழ்த்திக் கொண்டிருக்கிறார் "மரகதாசலேஸ்வரர்". பெயரிலேயே 'மரகதம்' மற்றும் 'அசலம்' (மலை) கொண்ட இத்தலத்தின் சிறப்பைப் பார்த்தால் மெய்சிலிர்த்துப் போவீர்கள்! இங்குள்ள மற்றுமொரு விசேஷம், இந்த மலையே ஒரு மரகத வடிவம் என்பதுதான்! இத்தலத்தில் சிவபெருமான் மரகத மலை உருவில் இருப்பதாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. பெரும்பாலான கோவில்களில் சிறிய அளவில் மட்டுமே மரகத லிங்கத்தைப் பார்த்திருப்போம். ஆனால், இங்கு மூலவரே மரகதத் திருமேனியாகக் காட்சி தருவது மிக மிக விசேஷம். அகத்திய முனிவர் ஈ வடிவில் (ஈ-கோய்-மலை) இறைவனை வழிபட்டதால் இத்தலத்திற்கு 'திருஈங்கோய்மலை' என்று பெயர் வந்தது. சித்தர்கள் இன்றும் சூட்சுமமாக வழிபடும் தலங்களில் இதுவும் ஒன்று. இக்கோவிலின் மற்றுமொரு அதிசயம், உச்சியில் உள்ள மூலவர் சன்னதிக்கு எதிரே இருக்கும் நந்தியின் நிழல் தரையில் விழுவதில்லை என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது. இது இன்றும் ஒரு தீர்க்கப்படாத ஆன்மீக மர்மமாகவே உள்ளது. மரகதம் புத பகவானுக்குரியது. இங்குள்ள இறைவனை வணங்குவது கல்வியில் ஞானத்தையும், தோல் சம்பந்தமான நோய்களிலிருந்து நிவாரணத்தையும் வழங்கும் என்பது பக்தர்களின் நம்பிக்கை. சுமார் 500 படிகள் ஏறிச் சென்றால், காவிரியின் அழகையும், ஜொலிக்கும் மரகத மலையின் ஆன்மீக அதிர்வலைகளையும் ஒருசேர அனுபவிக்கலாம். வாழ்க்கையில் ஒருமுறையாவது ஈ வடிவில் அகத்தியர் வணங்கிய இந்த மரகத மலையைத் தரிசித்து, அந்தப் பரம்பொருளின் அருளைப் பெறுவோம்! பச்சை நிறப் பேரொளியே போற்றி! The Mountain Itself, an Emerald! Thiru-Eengoy-Malai: A Rare Darshan of Lord Maragathachaleswarar! Om Sivaya Namaha! On the northern bank of the River Kaveri, atop a small hillock near Karur, Lord "Maragathachaleswarar" is performing divine wonders. You will be filled with awe and spiritual ecstasy when you discover the unique significance of this sacred site—a place whose very name incorporates the words 'Maragatham' (Emerald) and 'Achalam' (Mountain)! Another remarkable feature of this shrine is that the hill itself is believed to embody the form of an emerald! At this sacred site, Lord Shiva is revered as manifesting in the form of an emerald mountain. While we may have witnessed small emerald *Lingams* in many other temples, it is an exceptionally rare and special occurrence here, where the presiding deity (*Moolavar*) himself appears in the divine form of an emerald body. This sacred site acquired the name 'Thiru-Eengoy-Malai' because the sage Agathiyar worshipped the Lord here while in the form of a fly (*Ee*). It remains one of those rare spiritual centers where *Siddhars* (enlightened sages) are believed to continue their worship in subtle, ethereal forms to this day. Another marvel associated with this temple is the legend that the shadow of Nandi—the divine bull seated opposite the presiding deity's sanctum atop the hill—never falls upon the ground below. This phenomenon remains an unsolved spiritual mystery to this very day. The emerald gemstone is sacred to Lord Budha (Mercury). Devotees firmly believe that worshipping the deity here bestows wisdom in one's educational pursuits and grants relief from various skin-related ailments.
