A major tragedy was narrowly averted in Lucknow after a DCM truck loaded with CNG gas cylinders allegedly hit a motorcyclist and dragged his bike for nearly two kilometres before being stopped by alert traffic police. The incident occurred around 10 pm on Saturday near the Scooter India intersection on Kanpur Road. According to police, Shivansh Mishra, a resident of Banthra, had stopped to drink water when the DCM allegedly rammed into his motorcycle. While Mishra escaped by falling to the roadside, his bike became lodged beneath the front of the truck. Despite the collision, the driver allegedly continued driving, dragging the motorcycle for around two kilometres. Eyewitnesses said sparks continuously flew from the bike, raising fears of a major explosion as the truck was carrying a large consignment of CNG cylinders. Krishnanagar Traffic Police, who were following the vehicle, repeatedly signalled the driver to stop. When he ignored the warnings, officers overtook the truck near Daroga Kheda and safely brought it to a halt, preventing a potentially catastrophic accident. Police said the driver, identified as Sajjan, a resident of Unnao district, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody along with the vehicle and handed over to Sarojini Nagar Police.
