A newly constructed road in Cuttack district, built at a cost of 5 crore rupees, was washed away in the first flood. Local residents and farmers allege massive corruption and the use of low-quality materials by the contractor and departmental engineers. The road, which was a lifeline for local farmers to transport their produce to the market, is now completely damaged, cutting off communication for several villages. Locals are demanding a high-level investigation into the matter.
