Tamil Nadu (April 19-20, 2026): A massive explosion at a private firecracker unit (Vanaja Fireworks) in Kattanarpatti village, Virudhunagar district, killed at least 23 to 25 people. The majority of the deceased were women. The incident occurred on a Sunday, which is considered a safety violation, and was likely triggered by friction during chemical mixing.
Andhra Pradesh (February 28, 2026): A blast at the Surya firecracker manufacturing unit in Vetlapalem village, Kakinada district, resulted in the deaths of at least 23 people.
