The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) criticized the BJP-led Odisha government for stopping the salaries of 652 teachers and 11 observers who teach the Odia language to immigrant children in border areas of neighboring states. BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty stated that these educators, working through Utkal Sammilani, have not received their salaries despite assurances from Chief Minister Mohan Majhi. The party alleged that the government's talk of 'Odia Asmita' (pride) is contradictory given the financial distress faced by these 663 families, and demanded immediate payment of their arrears.
