Due to heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas, the water level at Hirakud Dam is rising significantly. Consequently, 4 additional sluice gates were opened on Tuesday, bringing the total number of open gates to 8. Currently, 5 gates on the left and 3 on the right are releasing floodwaters. As of 2:30 PM, the water level stands at 613.50 feet, with an average inflow of 1,55,637 cusecs per second, which is being balanced by an equal outflow through gates, canals, and power channels.
