The Himachal Pradesh government has launched a heli-taxi service between Mandi and Chandigarh under the RCS-UDAN scheme. Inaugurated virtually by CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the service offers a 30-minute flight for a fare of ₹3,500, which is cheaper than a private taxi. Operating from the Kangnidhar heliport, there will be two daily flights. The service aims to boost tourism, reduce travel time from the usual 3.5 hours by road, and provide better connectivity for emergency services. A Kullu-Mandi-Chandigarh route has also been introduced with a fare of ₹8,500.
