President Droupadi Murmu has approved the appointment of five new judges to the Supreme Court of India. The new appointments include Chief Justices from the High Courts of Bombay, Punjab and Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir, along with senior advocate V. Subramani Mohana. Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the notification issued under Article 124(2) of the Constitution. Additionally, the Union Cabinet has cleared a proposal to increase the total number of Supreme Court judges from 33 to 37, which will require an amendment to the 1956 Act.
