BJP leader Debashish Samantray has been elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Odisha. As he was the sole candidate to file nomination for the vacant seat, the returning officer declared him winner after the withdrawal deadline. Samantray had previously been elected to the Upper House in April 2024 on a BJD ticket but resigned to join the BJP, which re-nominated him for the by-election.
