Victims of the 1984 riots have issued a warning to the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, threatening a hunger strike by five women outside the CM's residence if High Court decisions regarding rehabilitation and benefits are not implemented. The Riot Victim Welfare Society leaders, Surjit Singh Dugri and Gurdeep Kaur, accused the government of betraying them by cancelling previously agreed decisions.
