Indian Railways is replacing traditional concrete and wooden sleepers on steel girder bridges with specially designed composite sleepers made of recycled plastic and rubber. These high-tech sleepers can handle 25-ton axle loads and absorb heavy vibrations, allowing passenger trains to run at 160 kmph. The Railway Board has requested a list of bridges from all zones, including North Central Railway, for the first phase of implementation. These fire-retardant sleepers have a minimum lifespan of 35 years and are resistant to weather and termites. Four vendors from Sonipat, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Pathankot have been shortlisted for production under RDSO supervision. https://www.inextlive.com/uttar-pradesh/allahabad/now-high-tech-sleepers-made-of-39-plastic-rubber-39-will-be-installed-on-heavy-steel-bridges-1780859362 #creator program
