The construction of the Panposh-Yamunanaki bridge connecting Rourkela and Kuarmunda has faced significant delays, with the deadline extended for the 6th time to March 2027. Originally slated for completion in 2022, the ₹28.85 crore DMF-funded project is lagging due to technical issues and design changes in the pillars. Currently, 6 out of 14 slabs and 3 pillars remain incomplete. The delay is blamed on departmental negligence. Once completed, the bridge will reduce travel distance by 15 km and ease traffic congestion on the Brahmani bridge, benefiting local commuters and farmers.
