Former Gunupur MLA Rammurti Gamango has passed away at the age of 76 while undergoing treatment in a hospital. A prominent tribal leader, he was elected to the assembly in 1990 on a Janata Dal ticket and in 2000 from the BJP. His later life was marked by controversy as he was convicted in 2023 for the 1995 murder of his wife, Shashirekha Gamango, and was serving a life sentence.
