The Indian Army continues to operate its Cheetah-variant (Cheetal) helicopters in Ladakh and Siachen despite a recent crash on May 20 in the Tangtse area. An investigation into a technical failure in the single-engine helicopter's transmission system is currently underway. Major General Sachin Mehta and two other officers survived the accident.
