To make sure it can handle it, engineers at Airbus deliberately blast huge volumes of water into the running engines of the Airbus A350 — recreating some of the heaviest rain conditions an aircraft could ever face in the sky.
While the engine runs, sensors constantly monitor temperature, vibration, airflow, and thrust. Even under extreme water exposure, the engine must keep running smoothly without flameout or damage.
After the test, engineers carefully inspect every component to ensure everything is still perfect — proving the aircraft can safely fly through intense storms.
