The book of Revelation Explanation Post -262
3. Revelation Chapter 13:
VIII) (i) "The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority." (Revelation 13:2)
Dear holy saints of God, the four beasts seen in Daniel’s vision are described here. If we are to comprehend the mysteries and symbols of the book of Revelation, we must first understand the book of Daniel. During Daniel's time, the Babylonian (lion) empire was actively operating. It was followed by the Medo-Persian (bear) empire, and then the Greek (leopard) empire. Because the Apostle John lived during the Roman empire, he looks backward and observes the leopard, the bear, and the lion one after another. The terrifying beast representing his own era is not emphasized in his immediate view here, because the Roman empire was destined to operate for another 400 years.
The beast (the Antichrist) emerging from the sea is revealed as possessing all the authority of the previous world empires. We can understand that the authority, military power, administrative skill, cunning, and majesty seen in Alexander the Great (Greece), Cyrus (Persia), and Nebuchadnezzar (Babylon) will all be embodied in him.
We see that the dragon gave its throne, power, and great authority completely to this beast. We know that God the Father, the first person of the Holy Trinity, conferred all authority upon Jesus Christ, the second person of the Holy Trinity. Our loving Lord King Jesus declares, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me" (Matthew 28:18). In the exact same manner, the Antichrist, wielding all the power of the dragon, will operate on earth and bring the entire world under his dominion (Daniel 7:23).
"He [the Antichrist] will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people. He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes [Christ the King of kings]." (Daniel 8:24,25)
"The king will do as he pleases. He will exalt and magnify himself above every god and will say unheard-of things against the God of gods. He will be successful until the time of wrath is completed, for what has been determined must take place." (Daniel 11:36)
