Following attacks on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted major airstrikes on over 80 Iranian military targets. The operation targeted air defense systems, command centers, coastal radar stations, and over 60 IRGC speedboats in locations including Qeshm Island, Sirik, and Bandar Abbas. The U.S. stated this was necessary to protect international maritime trade and weaken Iran's military capabilities. In response, the U.S. has also reimposed sanctions on Iranian oil sales. Iran has condemned the strikes as a violation of interim agreements and warned of possible retaliation, escalating tensions in West Asia.
