Heavy rains in Maharashtra have led to a significant rise in water levels in the Krishna, Dudhganga, Vedganga, and Ghataprabha rivers. Over 15,000 cusecs of water were released from the Rajapur barrage into the Krishna river. Hidkal reservoir saw a one-foot rise in a single day. Consequently, entry to waterfalls and forest areas in Belagavi has been banned for safety. Additionally, a tragic road accident in Chikkodi claimed two lives.
