Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the deity of wisdom and prosperity. According to mythology, Goddess Parvati created Ganesha, whose head was later replaced with an elephant's head by Lord Shiva. He is revered as the remover of obstacles. Originally started during the Maratha period, Lokmanya Tilak transformed it into a public festival during the independence movement to foster social unity. The 10-day festival begins on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi and ends on Anant Chaturdashi, now serving as a symbol of cultural harmony and environmental awareness.
