Farmers from three villages in Rayagada's Kalyansinghpur block took matters into their own hands after authorities ignored their repeated requests to repair a damaged dam and canal. Facing the upcoming Kharif season, every family contributed ₹1,000 and residents of all ages provided voluntary labor to buy materials and fix the infrastructure. This canal irrigates over 900 acres of land with water from the Niyamgiri hills.
