Mandatory Disclosure at Point of Sale Petrol bunks must prominently display clear signage whenever ethanol-blended fuel is being dispensed. Consumers have a fundamental right to know what fuel they are purchasing and whether it is compatible with their vehicles. 2. Public Awareness on Technical Risks Ethanol is hygroscopic — it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. Legitimate concerns persist among motorists regarding: Water contamination in fuel systems Impact on fuel injectors and fuel pumps Long-term vehicle maintenance implications Public awareness campaigns and transparent, accessible information are essential to address these concerns responsibly. 3. Clarity on Warranty, Insurance & Liability There must be unambiguous frameworks governing warranty, insurance, and liability in cases where fuel contamination or fuel-related damage occurs. Consumers must not be left in uncertainty about who bears responsibility when problems arise — the fuel supplier, the distributor, the retailer, or the manufacturer.
