மனிதன் முரண்பாடுகளின் மொத்த உருவம் மனித வாழ்க்கை ஒரு பெரிய முரண்பாடாகவே உள்ளது. மனிதர்கள் ஒரே சமயத்தில் தங்களைப் பிரிக்கவும் இணைக்கவும் முயல்கிறார்கள். உலகம் முழுவதும் மக்களைக் இணைப்பது எது என்றால் — அது “பாதைகள்”. மொழி, ஜாதி, இனம், மதம், நாடு ஆகியவை மனிதர்களை இணைப்பதாக தோன்றினாலும், உண்மையில் அவை அவர்களைப் பிரிப்பதில்தான் அதிக பங்காற்றுகின்றன. ஆனால் பாதைகள் மட்டும் அதற்கு மாறாக இருக்கின்றன. ஒரு பாதை உருவாகும் போது அது மக்களை இணைக்கும் பாலமாகிறது. சாலை, கடல், வானம், இன்றைய டெலிபோன் மற்றும் இன்டர்நெட் கூட — எல்லாம் பாதைகளே. அவை மனிதர்களை இணைக்கும் வழிகள். உதாரணமாக, முன்பு ஒரு மொழியானது அரசியலின் அடிப்படையில் வளர்ந்தது. இன்றைய உலகில் ஒரு மொழியின் வளர்ச்சிக்குப் பெரிதும் உதவி செய்வது அரசியல்வாதிகள் அல்ல, “கூகுள்” போன்ற நிறுவனங்கள்தான். இன்று தொழில்நுட்பத்தின் காரணமாக ஒரு சிறிய நாட்டின் மொழியும் உலகம் முழுவதும் கேட்கப்படுகிறது. மனித சமூகம் ஒன்றிணைந்து வாழ வேண்டும் என்று நாம் பேசுகிறோம். ஆனால் அதே சமயம், ஜாதி, மதம், இனம் என்ற பெயரில் மனிதர்கள் பிரிந்து கிடக்கிறார்கள். விஞ்ஞானம் வளர்ந்துவிட்ட தற்காலத்தில் பிரிவினைகளும் அதிகமாகி வருகின்றன. இது ஒரு பெரிய முரண்பாடு. இருப்பினும் இதுவே உண்மை. போஸ்னியா, இலங்கை, மியான்மர் போன்ற நாடுகள் இனப்பிரிவினை காரணமாக ஏற்பட்ட துயரங்களை இன்னும் மறக்கவில்லை. இஸ்ரேல் – பாலஸ்தீன மோதல் மதப்பிரிவினையின் விளைவே. காலங்காலமாக பிரிவினைகளுக்கு மனித குலம் அதிகமான விலையை கொடுத்துள்ளது. ஆனால், எவ்வளவு பிரிவுகள் இருந்தாலும், மனிதர்கள் பயணம், கல்வி, இசை, அறிவியல், கலைகள், தகவல் தொடர்பு போன்ற வழிகளில் ஒன்றிணைகிறார்கள். விமானம், ரயில், இணையம் — எல்லாமே மனிதர்களை நெருக்கமாக்கும் பாதைகள். இன்று உலகம் சுருங்கி ஒரு கிராமமாக மாறிவிட்டது. ஒரு நாட்டில் பக்கத்து பக்கத்து வீடுகளில் வசிக்கும் வெவ்வேறு மதத்தினரும் இனத்தினரும் நட்புடன்தான் பழகுகிறார்கள். ஆனால் அரசியல் என்று வந்தவுடன் வேறுபாடுகள் உருவாகின்றன. அரசியல்வாதிகளே தங்களுடைய சுய இலாபத்திற்காக சமுதாயத்தில் வேற்றுமையை விதைக்கிறார்கள். அமெரிக்கா போன்ற நாடுகளே இதற்கு சான்று. பல்வேறு நாடுகளைப் பூர்வீகமாகக் கொண்ட மக்கள் அங்கு வசிக்கிறார்கள். “நாம் அனைவரும் உலகத்தின் குடிமக்கள்” என்ற கொள்கையை அந்த நாடுகள் எடுத்துக் கொண்டதால்தான் அவை முன்னேறின. ஆனால் அங்கேயும் இப்போது சில அரசியல்வாதிகள் இன, மத வேறுபாடுகளைச் சுட்டிக்காட்டி மக்களைப் பிரிக்க முயல்கிறார்கள். இதனால் அவர்களுக்கு அரசியல் இலாபம் கிடைத்தாலும், நாட்டின் வளர்ச்சி தடைப்படுகிறது. மனித குலத்தின் முன்னேற்றம் வேறுபாடுகளை மறந்து மக்கள் ஒன்றிணைந்தால்தான் சாத்தியம். செயற்கை நுண்ணறிவு, குவாண்டம் அறிவியல் போன்றவை எல்லா மனிதர்களுக்கும் பொதுவான நன்மைகளைத் தருகின்றன. இந்தப் புதுமைகள், உலகம் ஒரு குடும்பம் என்ற உண்மையை நினைவூட்டுகின்றன. மனிதன் எப்போதும் முரண்பாடுகளால் ஆனவன். ஒருபக்கம் தன்னை உயர்த்த நினைக்கும் போது, மறுபக்கம் தானே உருவாக்கிய சுவர்களுக்குள் தன்னை அடைத்துக்கொள்கிறான். ஒரு வகையில் அந்த முரண்பாடுகளில்தான் மனித குலத்தின் அழகும் அர்த்தமும் இருக்கின்றன. ஆகவே, மனிதனை ஒரே வாக்கியத்தில் வர்ணிக்க வேண்டுமானால் — “மனிதன் முரண்பாடுகளின் மொத்த உருவம்” என்று கூறலாம். How Do We Reveal Ourselves? Human beings reveal themselves in many small ways without even realizing it. Every gesture, expression, or reaction has a hidden meaning. When we are tensed, we scratch our heads. When we are thinking deeply, we rub our noses. When we lie, our eyes look sideways, and when we are hiding something, we try to look serious. These are small signs through which our inner thoughts come out unconsciously. Women are usually very good at understanding these signs. They are experts in drawing inferences and making guesses based on body language. A mother, for example, can easily understand what her child needs even before it learns to speak. She studies the child’s movements, cries, and expressions to find out whether it is hungry, sleepy, or in pain. This ability comes from natural intuition and careful observation. Similarly, many women in earlier days, who had limited freedom to move outside their homes, became experts at reading the moods of the men in their families. By simply looking at a husband’s or father’s face, they could understand whether he was happy, angry, or tired. This skill helped them maintain peace in the household and act at the right time. People reveal themselves through their words, eyes, tone of voice, and even through silence. But understanding another person’s mind or personality is not an easy task. Psychologists and psychotherapists spend years studying human behavior to understand why people act or react in certain ways. This scientific field is called Behavioral Science. It studies how individuals and groups think, act, and make decisions. Some people naturally have the gift of reading others. They can judge a person’s mood or intention from their mannerisms, posture, or breathing style. Such people often become great leaders, politicians, or successful businesspersons. They know how to approach others, when to speak, and what to say. Their success lies in their ability to understand human behavior. In everyday life too, this skill is very useful. We deal with people constantly — as parents, friends, buyers, sellers, service providers, and colleagues. Our success in these relationships depends largely on how well we read the moods and emotions of others. For example, even if your demand or request is reasonable, if the other person is in a bad mood, it may be rejected. But if you wait for the right time, you are more likely to get a positive response. Timing, therefore, is crucial. We all know this fact but are not always good at applying it. To succeed, we must practice observing people and situations carefully. Practice makes a person perfect. We must develop patience and alertness to act at the right time. A good observer can sense small changes in others’ tone, expression, or gesture and act wisely. This helps us complete our tasks smoothly and with minimal friction. In short, we reveal ourselves in countless ways — through our actions, expressions, and even our silence. To understand others is an art as well as a science.
